5K OC ECO MUD RUN

Yesterday I participated in a mud run (yes, 1wk short of 4 months prego) with 3 other sorority sisters from college, Jessica, Hannah, and Erika.  Due to poor directions we got there late & started the race with a 4 minute deficit, but whatever!  We were there to show off our "Muchachas Sucias" costumes and have a good time.  We ended up passing a good number of teams and  finished in 36minutes.  Well, some of us.  Others of us were having a good 'ol fashioned mud fight and we had to go back to get them so we could finish as a team, ha-ha!  We did great, had a fabulous time, & burned calories.  That's success in my book!  Way to go Muchachas Sucias!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

This has been quite a crazy week, starting with last Friday (that counts, right?!  Ha-ha!)!!!

Sat (4/24)-My Mud Run in OC, out to lunch, and then to Jovan & Jenee's house for Pizza & the Laker game

BUSY, RIGHT?!

Well on Monday while I was at Walgreen's picking up cold medicine, I came across a Gender Prediction Test (okay, so I didn't exactly come across it, I looked for it).  Mrs. Carillo (a family friend of the Soria's) had told me all about it on Sunday at Jorge's party and it got me interested.  I knew Edson would be totally psyched to do it, so I bought it to surprise him with.  Fast-forward to Tuesday morning and this is what I woke Edson up to....
Yep, after seeing this Edson went right back to sleep with a big fat smile across his face, hehe!  It was too cute!  We'll see!  Our 20week ultrasound with Kaiser will be scheduled for the end of May/beginning of June:)

MIA and Other Odds & Ends

SOooOo SoRRy about being MIA, but there hasn't really been much to report.  Last Wednesday I had my appointment at Kaiser to turn in my paperwork (the kind that asks nationality & family history of cancer/disease) and have some blood work done.  The neat thing (or potentially scary thing) about Kaiser is that everything is online and they email you when test results have been posted.  All my blood work came back normal THANK GOD!  I was scared at first because the Rubella IgG test came back positive and I started freaking out until I clicked on it and it said testing positive means you have immunity against the infection because you've been immunized...Phew!  Just to make sure that sounded right, I called my mom, left a message with the nurse's station & just to make triple sure, called my dear friend Crystal who is a nurse (boy is she a life saver...love u C$)!  So far so good!

On a totally different note, two weekends ago Jay and Edson were goofing around on the internet and looking up Chinese zodiacs.  Anyways, they stumbled upon one of those Chinese Lunar Calendars that predicts the sex of the baby.  They charted my age with the month the baby was conceived and low-and-behold, it says our baby is going to be a BOY (just what Edson's been praying for).  That's all the proof Jay & Edson needed.  You should have seen them, oh my gosh!  They jumped off the couch cheering and high-5ing each other.  It was the best 5minute entertainment ever, haha!  I wish I had my camera handy.

Here's the link:
http://www.immihelp.com/nri/chinese-lunar-calendar-gender-prediction.htmlCheck it out and let me know if it works for you, it's kinda freaky!  We tested it on everyone we know, even with our birthdays (Pam, Jay, Jessie, her baby, Xia, Josh, me, & Edson) and it was right 99% of the time.  I think Edson's birthday was the only iffy one because of when he was born.  CRAZY!

So in answer to everyone's question, YES!  We are going to find out the sex of our baby as soon as it's humanly possible, haha!  I mean seriously, how are you supposed to shop & get a room ready if you don't know???

Headstands & Due Dates

Yeay, we had our first prenatal appointment Friday and everything is going well! Baby has a heartbeat of about 165bpm and was just enjoying life in there. We met our doctor, Dr Jebelli (who seems wonderful by the way), and were able to see and hear the heartbeat. Wow, what an amazing miracle! We were both touched.

Here's baby Soria doing a headstand facing us with its little paddle feet up in the air. The bump to the left is a little hand sticking out to say "Hello everyone, I can't wait to meet you!" :)

New Due Date: Now that the baby has been measured, a new due date has been given to us...October 19th, 2010! So we are officially 8weeks & 4days today! The doctor said girls usually come early and boys usually come late. Boy do I hope it's a girl because I'm supposed to be a bridesmaid in Jessica's wedding on November 6th! Haha!

WE'RE PREGNANT!!!

SURPRISE!  We're expecting a little bundle of joy to arrive sometime around October 14th (yes, the day before our 4th wedding anniversary...crazy, huh?!).

We made it our New Years resolution to start trying for a little one, but didn't expect it to happen on the first try (but were praying it would).  Let me tell you though, the anticipation has been killing us!  We can't imagine having to go through it month after month like so many couples often do.

So, here's how we found out....

On Superbowl Sunday Jay and Pam had spent the night.  We were planning to have a group of friends over to watch the game too, but as we were hanging around Sunday morning, I realized I was 3 days late.  Jay & Pam had left to go to the store and I was so anxious (to take a pregnancy test) that I told Edson to go jump in the shower first.  As soon as I heard the water turn on, I was off to take the test...and after only 1minute the 2 lines showed up!  Oh my gosh was I excited!

All those plans I had drafted out in my head (of how I would surprise Edson with the good news on Valentine's Day) went by the waste-side.  I ran to the garage to get a bag & tissue paper, hurried back upstairs, wrapped the stick in 2 seconds flat, and shoved it (kinda nicely) in the bag.  As I was doing that, Edson came walking in the bedroom & as nonchalant as I possibly could, I handed him the bag saying that it was an early Valentine's Day present and that he should open it now.

Phew, I did it!  No, it wasn't nearly as creative as I had planned, but none the less, there it was.  Now I just had to wait for the expression on Edson's face when he opened it, but no.  He said a confused "thanks" and put the bag down on the counter while continuing to get ready.  Oh my gosh was I dying inside!  I wanted to just blurt it out, but instead I went & jumped in the showerAbout 10seconds later, the door opened and Edson had a huge guilty grin on his face while saying, "Hey Punk (short for Pumpkin), whats this mean?".  I think he just wanted to hear it from me, so I unintentionally smiled the most possible smile and said, "You're gonna be a daddy!"

We are so blessed in our lives and we couldn't be more excited.  Originally, the plan was to wait and tell everyone when we were through with the 1st trimester (because of miscarriage risk), but this is as long as we can wait, haha!  We are so thrilled that we can't keep it to ourselves any longer.  We want you to share in our joy!

PS-I'm feeling absolutely fine and I'm not experiencing any negative pregnancy symptoms whatsoever!  Lets keep our fingers crossed that this good feeling continues :)  ...Mom is certain it's going to be a girl:)  We shall see!
